The Luck 'o the Irish

I realize that St. Paddy's Day has come and gone, but it is still March ......I'm allowed one pass aren't I?? I couldn't resist sharing these amazing cupcakes......Chocolate Guinness Cupcakes with Bailey's Buttercream Frosting. If you've never baked with alcohol before, this is a great introduction. Guinness Stout pairs AMAZINGLY with chocolate.....so good in fact, that the hubby probably could have devoured the cupcakes plain with only a sprinkling of powdered sugar (which is what we did right when they came out of the oven....mmmmmm....). But then you top it off with a buttercream frosting that has a hint of Bailey's in it, and wow! These puppies really did a number on my willpower.

Try them.....you'll love them.....and why bother waiting till next St. Paddy's Day....these would be yummy anytime! Check out The Culinary Chronicles for the full recipe......enjoy!

Sweet Sunday

\

The family got together on Sunday to celebrate our nephew James' 5th birthday.....Happy Birthday James! When I'm making desserts for the family I usually end up making one thing for the kiddos and another for the adults. This time was no exception....especially when I spied these adorable ice cream rice krispy treats.....what kid could resist??!!? And you get to put little goodies inside.......what a great little surprise for the kiddos! Of course of few of them couldn't wait to get to the candy inside, so they busted off the top of the cone to save for later. My little Henry had a different approach to getting to the candy......making a little hole in the bottom of the cone and trying to scoop out the M&Ms one by one.

For the adults I went with a recipe from Southern Plate......the Butterfinger Cake. A chocolate cake with caramel sauce drizzled on top and covered with Cool Whip and crushed Butterfinger bars......so simple and soooo good!

Go to Confessions of a Cookbook Queen for the Ice Cream Rice Krispy Treat recipe and go to Southern Plate for the Butterfinger Cake recipe.....enjoy!

O-O-Oreos....and Chocolate Chips

What could be better than and Oreo cookie or a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie? You guessed it.....a chocolate chip cookie that's got an Oreo cookie baked inside of it!! Brilliant right? Or totally crazy, depending on how your diet is going....

Well, I saw the recipe on Picky Palate and knew that it would make it into my recipe rotation at some point in the near future. Tomorrow night my dear friend Kelly is hosting a knitting circle at her house, and imagine my surprise when I saw that she had posted a link to the recipe on her Facebook page. Well, of course that sealed the deal....I knew what I was going to bring to the knitting circle, in exchange for her knitting expertise (of which I have zero!).

And how are these delicious "little" cookies? They are completely over-the-top and amazing! The hubby has already devoured two of these babies, and I'm pretty sure if the rest were not spoken for, there would be no survivors by the morning.

For the recipe, head over to Picky Palate!

Here I am!

So I finally got myself a blog! I know, I'm a little late to this party.....but I wanted a place to show some of the fun stuff that I make in the kitchen. I'm not really one for inventing new recipes....there are too many out there already that I want to try (hence the name, Sweet Swiper). So relax.....pour yourself a tall glass of milk, and enjoy!
